Global female leaders applauded at gala event in New York City
ConnectIreland has scooped another global award for their innovative approach to diaspora engagement, taking bronze in the “Community Involvement Program of the Year” category at the 13th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
The company’s Community Action Plan, which reaches out to members of the Irish diaspora through their native counties, was recognised for its unique promotion of FDI and economic development.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business are the world’s top honours for female entrepreneurs, executives, employees and the organisations they run. Stevie Award winners were selected by a panel of over 160 professionals worldwide who participated in the judging process this year.
More than 500 people attended a gala awards ceremony at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on Friday 18 November, where winners were announced across 90 categories.
“I am delighted to receive this award on behalf of the team at ConnectIreland. This is recognition of not just the work we do, but also of the tremendous contribution of the Irish diaspora to Ireland’s economic growth. 2017 looks set to be another exciting year for ConnectIreland as we grow, diversify and continue to work tirelessly with Ireland’s diaspora to promote Ireland as a place to do business,” said Joanna Murphy, CEO of ConnectIreland, who picked up the bronze award on behalf of the Irish economic development promotion organisation.
“Each year we think the quality of achievements portrayed in Stevie-winning nominations couldn’t possibly get any better, and each year the amazing women who are recognised in this program prove us wrong,” said Michael Gallagher, Stevie Awards founder and president. “We are thrilled and humbled to be able to recognise so many outstanding women in the Stevie Awards for Women in Business, and to share the stories of their achievement with the world.”
